Google Analytics code removed when publishing using FTP

Hi

I use iWeb Buddy to insert the Google Analytics code into my iWeb website. It works fine when publishing to the local folder, but is not on the site when I publish using the iWeb FTP. I have added content and removed content, the content changes so the file is correct, but the Google Analytics is removed from the footer.

Version 3.0.3
Mac OS X 10.6.8

Do you have an answer?

    Hi Bruce,

We've had a few odd cases where iWeb Buddy has problems updating a site which is on a remote server and it may be that you fall into that group. Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the log files which iWeb Buddy generates. You can do this via the Help menu in iWeb Buddy.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Bruce,

I've just received the logs and it's all a bit odd. iWeb Buddy thinks that the site's domain is 'http://Metrofibre network' which is invalid because obviously a URL cannot contain a space. If I try to access a page such as http://Metrofibre%20networx/home.html (where the space is replaced by character encoding) I don't get a valid page. Because iWeb Buddy cannot find any valid pages at the URLs it is looking at it is not able to update any of the pages.

I'm assuming that the problems are with this site and not the one at http://web.me.com/studiopink/Studiopink!.

    All the bets,

    Simon

I've just looked at the second log file you sent and it oops like you processed the site locally and that it went okay. I'm going to mark this ticket as resolved for now but you are free to re-open it if you are still having problems.

    All the best,

    Simon

    Hi Simon

    It works locally fine.

I understood that iWeb Buddy would insert the code and then iWeb could be used to publish the website via the ftp publishing option.

At the moment I have to use Filezilla to transfer the locally published pages to the website server.

Not sure if I misundersttod how the software works.

    Hi Bruce,

To use iWeb Buddy remotely you publish the site in iWeb and then launch iWeb Buddy (quit iWeb first) and then you should be able to update your published site. iWeb Buddy updates the files on your web server which were put there by iWeb.

However in the initial log files you sent me iWeb Buddy could not find the files on the web server (and neither could I) so perhaps you hadn't published the site in iWeb before running iWeb Buddy?

I hope that makes sense! If not please let me know and perhaps you can either confirm that this is what you did or try it if it isn't.

    All the best,

    Simon

    Hi Bruce,

The latest logs confirm that iWeb Buddy cannot update your site once it has been published to your server bit it can update a locally published version.

iWeb Buddy picks up various settings from your server and it believes that your site if located at 'http://Metrofibre network' and that the path on the server is 'public_html/beta/Metrofibre_networx'. I'm guessing that the site itself is on an internal server. Is that right?

For example, iWeb Buddy thinks that this URL is invalid:
    http://Metrofibre network/public_html/beta/Metrofibre_networx/MTN.html

Does that load a page for you in Safari (or whichever web browser you use)?
