Hi there...

I bought iWeb Buddy long time ago... The new version looks quite good.
But there are still problems.

  1. when i want to set the title of a site, it doesnt work. I put the title in, go to "close" and when i open the properties again, there is again everything empty... all my settings are away

  2. when i want to edit my page with iweb buddy directly on FTP, the codes in body und head parts are not published. I also tried this option with an new textfield in iweb, put in the html codes and use in frotn of <!--IWB Header--> or <!--IWB HTML-->. after use iweb buddy, the textfield is just away but the code is not there...

thx for your help

Valentin

    Hi Valentin,

I can't reproduce your first problem but I do need to confirm that you actually mean page title rather than site title. If it is the page title then can you also check to see if this happens on all page types or whether it is just one specific type.

I'm not sure I completely understand your second problem either but if you are saying that iWeb Buddy is not correctly updating your published iWeb site then I'll need you to send me your iWeb Buddy log files please. You can do this in iWeb Buddy using the 'Submit Log Files' item in the Help menu.

    All the best,

    Simon

    hi Valentin,

Please don't apologise and your English is fine, much better than I would do trying to communicate in your native language. :D

I've attached a screenshot to show you where 'Submit Log Files' should be but are you running a non-English version? That may be why it is missing.

Do you have many settings configured in iWeb Buddy? It may be easiest to do a bit of a clean-up which may help solve the problem of things not being saved, especially if you were using an old version. You could try deleting two folders for me. The first is your Library/Application Support/iWeb Buddy folder and the other is your Library/Caches/com.zarrastudios.iwebbuddy folder. I've attached screenshots to show you where both are. Please quit iWeb Buddy before you remove them and then, once you have relaunched iWeb Buddy can you please see if things are working.

    All the best,

    Simon

    Hi Valentin,

Apologies, part of the problem is that we are still waiting for the German localisation to be updated to match the English 1.5.2 release. You can however still send me the log files by attaching the latest log file to a reply here. You can find the log files in the com.zarrastudios.iwebbuddy folder that you previously cleared out.

I doubt that the pending German localisation is causing the problems but would it be possible for you to switch your Mac over to using English and see if that helps.

    Very many thanks.

    Hi Simon

i sent you the logfile. after switching to english version, i could see the 'submit log files' and page titles, site keywords and description works now. the only thing, what's not working is for example more metatags (author, language, ...). i put hem in the header box. also scripts for visitor statistics i wanted to add in the body box, but it didnt work. can you check it for me in the log file?

many thx for your nice support!

    Hi Valentin,

Thank you for the log file and there is something wrong somewhere. For example, iWeb Buddy is trying to download a page at http://www.valentinakcag.com/classical/Konzerte/Entries/2007/6/17_T... which is listed in your Konzerte Archiv but isn't on your sever. It may be worth re-publishing the entire site in iWeb and then re-procesing it in iWeb Buddy.

The log file is also showing some problems with your XML that you are trying to inject into the site. This may well be because keywords and description should be entered in their own areas and not via the header scripts section. Would it be possible for you to attach some screenshots so I can see how you have things configured.

However some pages are working and it looks like additional content has been added to pages such as http://www.valentinakcag.com/classical/Biografie.html although the logs to show an error there too.

So, if you can republish your site to recreate the missing pages and attach some screenshots I'd be most grateful.

    All the best,

    Simon

    Hi Valentin,

Wonderful, I'm pleased we're making progress and I have asked our lead developer to chase up the people doing the German translation.

Your script text got stripped out of your message but I've had a quick look in the log and didn't see any errors (something like 'SitePreferencesController:verifyScript:error: ' isn't reporting an error) so if you can let me know the page address or some text to search for i the log I'd be most grateful.

    All the best,

    Simon

I attached you a screenshot of the body box. This script is now the only thing, what is not working. I hope you can find out why.

    Hi Valentin,

I see. The first part is being stripped out but the part between the 'noscript' tags is being inserted properly. I'll need to look into this further and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

    All the best,

    Simon

Yes that's exactly the problem. I don't understand why it cut only the first part...
Thank you for your great support, I'm curious if there is a solution...
Ah by the way. I found a small mistake in I web Buddy:

When you set a domain title, the title will be in every page but not in the index.html. is empty. The meta tags are there, just the title I have to put in manually. You cannot see the index.html on my page because you are forwarded to the startpage. so i attached a print screen of this missing title. You also can see in this printscreen, that meta tags are added by web buddy.

    Best regards

I need more coffee... What you need to do is insert the script pert in the header section and the noscript part in the footer section. Have a look at the screenshot I've attached.

That should fix it but please let me know how you get on.

    All the best,

    Simon

Ok now everything works! Great, thank you a lot! iWeb Buddy is a very great program and very easy to use!

i recognized a new small mistake: the blogs (in my page my concerts) are not edited by iweb buddy. no titles, no description, no keywords and so on.

and a new idea: lot of people use the blog function for events, concerts and so on. So a stupid thing in iWeb 09 is, that you cannot reverse the order of the entries (blogs). That would also be a great function for iWeb Buddy :)

    Best regards and many thanks

Thanks Valentin. We'll make sure to get the German version sorted out as quickly as we can and I'll look into some of the other issues for version 1.6 which is currently being worked on.

    All the very best,

    Simon
