Hi there,

I downloaded the iWeb buddy beta to try it with my mobile me website. I wanted to add Haloscan commenting and google analytics tracking to the site.

The program opened fine, and I added the necessary info into settings. I clicked "Process." It goes through the movements of looking like it's processing... but when I look at the site in iWeb, nothing has changed. The site is exactly the same, with no pages turned red to indicate things have been added (like the commenting or google tracking).

Am I doing something wrong? Or is the beta not yet ready for prime time?

Thanks!

iWeb Buddy does not modify the iWeb files. It modifies the HTML output of iWeb. Generally the workflow is as follows:

    1. Edit/Publish in iWeb
    2. Process in iWeb Buddy

If you are publishing with iWeb '09, that is usually all you need

If, however, you are publishing to your own server or local folder in iWeb '08 then you need to add a few steps:

    1. Publish in iWeb to a folder
    2. Tell iWeb Buddy where that folder is via File -> Set Domain Location
    3. Process in iWeb Buddy
    4. Upload to your servers.

iWeb Buddy is a post processor for iWeb. This means that it alters the files that iWeb writes rather than the actual iWeb datafiles. Whenever you publish from iWeb you then need to process the pages from iWeb Buddy so that it can make the appropriate changes.
